Work-Life Awards and Recognition

Aug. 16, 2007 — I’m about to leave on vacation, so I want to bring to your attention the launch of two very important AWLP annual events next week while I’m away (three, if we count my birthday, which trumps everything else when it comes to my own personal calendar! Hey, just thought I’d mention it, this being a blog, after all.)

The first of these opportunities is the Call for Nominations for the Work-Life Rising Star Recognition Award. This will open on Monday, Aug. 20, and conclude on Nov. 2, so start thinking about any sterling “up and comers” you think deserve special recognition and encouragement for all that they do. This is the second year for this very special award, and we need your help in scouring the globe for hidden gems. Check out the Web site for the nomination form and get busy looking for folks who might be hiding their talents under a bushel basket. Fellow work-life blogger Cali Williams Yost is one of our five inaugural Rising Stars, so she can answer any questions you might have — or quickly pass you off to one of her four co-stars.

The second opportunity centers on our highly-coveted AWLP Work-Life Innovative Excellence Award, now in its 12th year. The Call for Applications also begins next Monday (Aug. 20), so if your professional network doesn’t include any Rising Stars at the moment, don’t be thinking you’re off the hook.  Refocus your energy on applying for our prestigious work-life “best practice” award.  The Web site contains the roster of past winners and explains the eligibility criteria, all with the goal of getting you inspired to soar with the eagles.

About the time you have absorbed this abundance of award opportunities, I’ll be back, talking about the Call for Presentations for workshops at the WorldatWork Total Rewards Conference and Exhibition May 20-23, 2008, in Philadelphia. Open season for this begins on Monday, Aug. 27.  But more about this later.

Whew! It’s a busy month of August here. No wonder I need a vacation!
Talk to you next week.
