WorldatWork Joins Partner Coalition to Expand Workplace Flexibility

July 19, 2010Washington — Alliance for Work-Life Progress at WorldatWork has committed to being a coalition partner for a new national campaign to expand workplace flexibility in the business community. Corporate Voices launched this campaign on June 28, after the White House announced at a first-ever Forum on Workplace Flexibility in March that it would lead a campaign to encourage businesses to become "Business Champions" for flexibility.

“Work-life strategies such as flexibility are a key component of total rewards,” said Anne C. Ruddy, CCP, president of WorldatWork. “Success depends on being able to create a fundamental shift in workplace culture, and this requires training and equipping HR and line managers with the education and certification needed to implement a fully integrated and holistic initiative.”

Businesses are encouraged to sign the Statement of Support for Expanding Workplace Flexibility to signify their commitment to actively communicate the business imperative for workplace flexibility; to expand flexibility within their own organizations as a tool to advance business results; to support managers in strengthening skills for managing flexibility; and to build workplaces in which flexibility is broadly and equitably implemented and available to employees at every level.

With support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Corporate Voices’ Partner Coalition includes Alliance for Work-Life Progress at WorldatWork, Families and Work Institute, Society for Human Resource Management, WFD Consulting, Working Mother Media/Bonnier Group, among others. These organizations are nationally recognized for their thought leadership, research and policy efforts in the work-life area.
