AWLP Recognizes U.S. Army, Government of Singapore and United Technologies Corporation for Work-Life Innovations

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. - Alliance for Work-Life Progress® (AWLP) recently announced the recipients of its 2005 Work-Life Innovative Excellence Award. The U.S. Army, the nation of Singapore, and United Technologies Corporation with Work/Life Innovations are the 2005 recipients for implementing programs that enrich the lives of their employees while achieving organizational goals.

Recipients were honored at the AWLP 9th Annual Conference & Exhibition, February 9-11, 2005, in Lake Buena Vista (Orlando), Florida.

"The recipients of the Innovative Excellence Award this year illuminate the path to entirely new levels of measurable impact on business outcomes, family well-being -- even the tipping point of an entire country's culture," said AWLP Director Kathie Lingle. "The caliber of applications raised the bar so significantly this year that even the runners up represent best practices that other companies would profit by emulating."

Recipients are selected based on their ability to rollout work-life programs that contribute to the well being of employees and address the organizations business needs. The government of Singapore cited a childcare center that implemented a work-life program that reduced employees' medical leave. The U.S. Army established Family Readiness Groups that offer information, referral assistance and mutual support to the families and provide cohesion among family members. United Technologies Corporation with Work/Life Innovations implemented Lifelong Learning, which completely funds employees' pursuit of college degrees and provides coaching on numerous educational issues.

"These new developments underscore the fact that strongorganizational support for success at home as well as at work isincreasingly understood to be a winning business strategy in today's global economy," according to Lingle.

Past recipients have included Cendant Mobility, Verizon Wireless, Marriott, IBM, and the University of California - Davis.
