Alliance for Work-Life Progress Announces 2007 Work-Life Rising Star Honorees
Alliance for Work-Life Progress (AWLP), a global network of professionals committed to advancing work-life effectiveness, recently announced the recipients of the inaugural Work-Life Rising Star recognition program. Recipients are recognized for their emerging leadership and potential as major contributors to the work-life community.
For this inaugural year, five professionals have been selected as Work-Life Rising Stars:
Barbara Ashby, manager of Work-Life, Child Care & Family Services, University of California-Davis. Ashby is honored for her role in launching UC Davis’ award-winning Breastfeeding Support Program, three on-site child care centers and for her new role as staff leader of UC Davis’ Work-Life Program.
Teresa Hopke, director of Work-Life Strategies at RSM McGladrey. Hopke’s company has been the recipient of Working Mother Media’s 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers, the Minnesota Work-Life Advocate award, and the Conference Board’s Moving Into the Future award.
John-Anthony Meza., associate director of National Community Involvement, KPMG. Meza contributes his time and energy to numerous boards, including the Board of Trustees for Corporate Voices for Working Families, the Board of Directors for Companies That Care and the Advisory Board for Universal Giving and My Good Deed. He serves on the Points of Light Foundation’s councils for National Workplace Volunteering and Connect America.
Jennifer Swanberg, Ph.D., executive director of Institute for Workplace Innovation, and associate professor, University of Kentucky. Swanberg is a nationally respected work-family expert who has appeared on television and radio media outlets that include MSNBC, CNN, NPR, and the BBC. She is a past nominee for the Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in Work-Family Research, is a recipient of funding from the Ford Foundation for research on responsive workplace cultures for hourly workers, and has published extensively in scholarly journals.
Cali Williams Yost, president and founder of Work+Life Fit, Inc., a corporate flexibility strategy consulting firm. Yost is the author of the critically acclaimed book, Work+Life: Finding the Fit That’s Right for You, and creator of the first blog in the work-life field, www.worklifefit.com/blog.

Work-Life Rising Star award honorees will be recognized at the Work-Life 2007 Conference & Exhibition, Feb. 21-23, 2007, to be held in Phoenix, Ariz. They will have the opportunity to be mentored by icons in the work-life field and to enhance their career in work-life through exclusive professional development opportunities in 2007. They will also be involved in next year’s selection of Work-Life Rising Stars.
